Youssouf
Youssouf was a recent graduate of the Association and can be seen on the home page proudly receiving his certificate from Kader. We were all so sad to hear that shortly after finishing the course and having this photo taken, Youssouf died in a traffic accident.
Just before starting the course, this is what he said about why he wanted to do the course.
"I would like to learn to do bogolan and to become an artist - that is above all my dream in life. In future, God willing, I would also like to have my own group to train my young brothers."
"Training like this inspires me; I can be creative and also have the means to live on. I would like to become involved in everything that is done here and to become an expert in it all".
That was Youssouf's inspiration and his dream. What a great sadness that he wasn't to fulfil such a dream, but what a blessing it was that thanks to the Association he was enabled to acknowledge his own potential, and to so inspire him.
It was a tremendous blow to the Team and the other students when he died.
We are now considering ways in which we may mark his place in the life of the Association.
